Celebrating a grand comadre’s life
Because many of us cannot
view video yet, SunMt will
run 2+ pages of every
Chronicle — first one with
stills; the rest with video.
Just before our grand comadre, Virginia
Hirsch, died from leukemia at 77, she
ordered no memorial services. So we,
some 400 of us, celebrated her intense
life with song and story. See a snippet of
our party by clicking here. Ginny thrived
just beyond the front edge of crucial issues.
She was the point person in forming the
legal department of the United Farm
Workers Union. She ran guns to freedom
fighters in Guatemala. She led a jury research
research committee which resulted in the
acquittal of Angela Davis. Among many other
escapades, big and small.
